The Association for the Promotion of Social Action (APSA) organized a conference on prevention of Alcohol on 11th May, 2018 at Hotel Vaishnoi in which several social organisations have participated.

The meeting was presided by Sri. Srinivas Reddy, President APSA and  Sri. V. Lakshman Reddy, President Jana Chaitanya Vedika. Sri M .Laxma Reddy, in his key note address, congratulated APSA, fighting  for years to prevent Alcohol consumption through pamphlets, street plays, holding sessions, lobbying with government, closing of liquor shops on highways etc, felt that results are not encouraging. There is an increase in the addiction, more among students and youths.

Representatives from different social organizations like MV Foundation,  Jana Vignana Vedika, Residents Welfare Associations and others spoke on the subject and insisted that the govt to the initiative.

Sri Srinivas Reddy quoting the examples of other states where there is total or partial ban, should be motivation to work and pressurise governments to implement laws that are anti-alcohol and not to focus only on high revenues through liquor sales.

Keeping in view the forthcoming elections also, where distribution of liquor plays a key role, it is decided to form a TELANGANA MADHYAPANA NIYANTRANA COMMITTEE to motivate people, media, political leaders and to make recommendations to govt about the Alcohol prevention.
