Dr.Rao VBJ Chelikani This year's Independence Day on August 15 2022, without any doubt, was a day to celebrate the achievement of independence from the Britishers by extraordinary means i.e. by non-violent means and by mobilising together people of very diverse origins. While celebrating, we should not let this occasion be a ritual and symbolic, as symbols often replace the substance and make us forget the purpose. Every time, we should recollect and reflect upon the events, as history has never been a plain mirror reflecting…
Dr.Rao VBJ Chelikani l. Precedents: Between the First and Second World Wars, the League of Nations, albeit in an informal manner, consulted regularly with non-governmental organizations working in the economic and social fields. During those consultations, a leading role was played by the International institute for Intellectual Cooperation, a precursor of UNESCO. The foundational vision of the United Nations was subscribed and drafted mostly by the elite thinkers and scientists of the civil society like Eleanor Roosevelt, Rene Cas…

Dr VBJ Chelikani While many political parties and their astute leaders in government in many states are lavishly delivering cash-cheques of tax-money, at their door-steps or into the bank accounts of anybody who is likely to vote for them, the Union Government thought it better to provide employment in the government directly ‘on mission mode’ so that people can receive regular salaries. But it is totally anti-economic and inflationary to recruit ten lakh citizens as government officers, precisely at a time when the s…

Dr. VBJ Rao Chelikani Change or evolution is in the nature of our Nature. But changes in man and by man have become more voluntary, faster and are impacting upon this entire planet. At present, we have not yet to be concerned about other planets and other galaxies. While the universe seems to be operating and evolving on an immutable logic of its own, the human being, however is able to gradually grasp the process of the Universe and understand the mechanisms of operation of the planet and is able to make changes to suit not on…
Dr Rao VBJ Chelikani The citizens have eagerly awaited the 21 April 2022 which is the Civil Services Day to find out whether there is any reflection or discussion on their part on the ongoing crisis in the domain of public administration. This year too, the day is observed largely as a protocol of self-congratulatory speeches and awards of excellence to some officers by the prime minister, who is the real-head of the entire Executive machinery. He exhorted the government functionaries to attend to their prime responsibility, which accordin…
Dr.Rao VBJ Chelikani We reiterate the thesis that there is an urgent need for reviewing radically our policies of external relations as well as our strategies of defence preparations. This is brutally reminded to us by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Unlike any other war in any other continent, this war in Europe among Europeans has challenges for us. So far, we have brilliantly succeeded in protecting our interests thanks to the ingenuity and tactful public relations deployed by our prime minister, minister for exte…
What began enthusiastically eleven years back came to a nought on a cold December afternoon in 2021 and SCOTRWA's efforts to obtain a license for a community radio station were shelved for good. The community radio licensing process proved to be time consuming, expensive and frustrating as this letter to the PMO elucidates. It is totally opposite of the spirit of community radio. Supreme Court ruling of 1995 asserts that radio waves/ frequencies are public property. Community radio aspirants need to remember that there is a good chance of…
