Tanuku Senior Citizens Welfare Association ( A.P.)



  1. The Association conducted weekly mobile medical camps for the patients who cannot move out, on 17th, 24th, 31st of December, 2017 and on 7th and 4th of January of 2018. over 170 patients were examined in and around Tanuku, covering Mandapaka, Peravali and Velpuru villages. They have also distributed medicines donated by the daughters of late Sri. N. Ranga Rao garu to the poor people.

  2. Conducted medical camp on 17/12/17 at their premises where in 43 patients were checked for diabetes. The patients were given the test reports and medicines.

  3. They released the year 2018 calender on 23/12/2017through their MLA Sri. A. Radha Krishna at their office. The Cherukuri group was thanked for their financial help to bring out the calender.

  4. The Association has distributed footwear and hand sticks to 33 poor and old people through their district Collector on 29-12-2017.

  5. About 40 people have availed the Aurvedic Medical Camp conducted by the Association through Dr. Srinivas ( Hyderabad) on 2nd January at their office.


 



6. 156th Jayanthi of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated in their office on 12th January. Several members of the Association and other dignitaries have participated in the celebration.



All the programmes have been conducted under the leadership of their President Sri. G. Keseswara Rao, supported by other members of the Association Sri. G.V. Bhaskara Rao, P.P. Ranga Rajan, Sri.S. Rama Krishna, P. Rama Rao, P. Satyanarayana.  Dr. Hussain Ahmed, Dr. V.S.N Raju, Dr. P. P. Prabhakara Rao, Dr. Jagdish, Dr.P.V.K.  Raju are thanked for having given their  services to test the patients in the medical camps.

Senior Citizen Associations in Hyderabad




The GHMC Commissioner, Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy with Addl. Commissioners, Sri. Bhaskaracharyulu and Sri Manohar has organised a meeting with the senior citizen associations on 29th Dec. 2017 At 4.00 p.m. at GHMC head office, Hyderabad on Swach Sarvekshan.





Alwal Senior Citizens’ Association


The Alwal Senior Citizens’ Association, Alwal, Secunderabad, has conducted a meeting on 10th for conducting sports on the occasion of Republic Day and finalised the  list of sports for competition for 26th January. They conducted the games among them on 24th and 25th Jan. in singing, carrom, musical chairs, brisk walk, etc.





Forum for Senior Citizens, Tarnaka


On 30th FSCT family met at NNCH to celebrate annual function and New Year Eve meet. The function started with Ganesha vandana by Y R K Parmahamsa garu followed by welcome song by Smt. G Sheshu Rao. The President Sri V Nageswar Rao addressed the gathering.  Sri Das M.C (80+ yrs.) & nine couples who completed 80 years of age or 50 of their marriage anniversaries were felicitated. It was followed by prize distribution to the winners of sports and quiz contest. Sri M.P. Bhave,  Sri.D.S.N.Murthy, Sri. Senior Citizens Forum, Mahabub Nagar


The Forum conducted a meeting on 05-01-2018 at their office, with the Jail Supdt. Sri. Shiva Kumar and ICDS Officer Sri. Shankara Chary, who have appreciated the Forum members for their dedicated service to the  society, for helping the public to write their complaints to present  at ‘Praja Vani’ and also for serving food free of cost. The Forum has honoured the newly appointed treasurer of Red Cross, Sri. S. Jagapathi Rao.

They have also given a memorandum to the Dist. Collector, Sri. Ronald Ross on improving public amenities including provision of toilets for women, bus facility to the adjoining villagers, etc. The collector and the Municipal Commissioner,  Sri. Ramachander have assured the Forum that they would extend all help to solve their problems and improve the public amenities.

The Secretary of the Forum Sri. N. Nagabhushanam, Sri. Somi Reddy (DEO Retd.), Red-Cross Chairman Sri.Nataraj, other members of the Forum including Sri. Savaraiah, Sri. M.Srisailam, Smt. Lakshmi Sekhar,  Sri.G.Pandu Rangaiah, Sri.B.Balaiah were present.

The Senior Citizens Forum, Nizambad



  1. The Association celebrated the Pensioners Day on 17-12-2017. Indoor games, such as, Table Tennis, Shuttle, Musical Chair, etc. have been conducted and prizes have been distributed. Pensioners and other senior citizens were honoured by the district Collector and tea, biscuits were served to the pensioners  present.

  2. Celebration of Christmas festival on 20-12-2017: The Christian Senior Citizens Welfare Association of Nizambad has celebrated the week-long programmes. The Celestial Fire celebration was conducted on 20-12-2017 at 7.30 p.m. in the church compound. The father of the church has delivered a lengthy lecture narrating the importance of the celetial fire and the members have been honoured with shawl and bouquets by the President. Dinner to all the participants is served after conclusion of celestial fire.

  3. On 24-12-2017, those writers & poets who brought name & fame to Nizamabad district are felicitated. Nizamabad district Rachayitalu have participated in the Telugu Rachayitala Sammelanamu held at Hyderabad with their works. 30 writers and poets have been honoured, who have brought good name and fame to the district.

  4. Greetings to the district heads on 1st of New Year 2018: The Association members conveyed their New Year greetings to all the district heads including the Collector, Commissioner of Police, Revenue Officers, District Social Welfare Officer etc., by visiting their camp offices. The officers have received them in a cordial manner. They have also met the new Dist Collector Sri. M. Ram Mohan Rao, I.A.S, in his camp office on 08-01-2018.

  5. Advocacy Officer from HelpAge India, Sri.Shyam from Hyderabad has conducted a training on 11.01.2018 for aged persons with Projector along with the Secretary General of TESSCCON, Hyderabad at the Senior Citizens Forum office. He explained the procedure of handling the telephone in order to do cashless transactions, including remittances and withdrawals from home. They have felicitated all the guests who came from Hyderabad.

     Appreciation of Poet Kiransree, Nellore


Sri. Boothapati  KiranSri, a senior citizen  received the award of the best poet of the year 2017 from the chief minister, Sri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu at Luthern High School, in Guntur on 21st December, 2017.








Interactions at Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi  


The Senior Citizens Council of Delhi has organised interaction session with South Delhi Police on 31-12-2107 at it's Recreation Center, Green Park Extn. in the presence of more than 200 members.  A.K. Roy, A.C.P., and Sanjay Rawat, Additional officiating S.H.O. have addressed the senior citizens. Both assured the audience that earnest efforts are being made for the safety and security of senior citizens residing in Safdarjung Enclave by intensifying the additional patrolling by Beat Constables around the clock regularly. On this occasion, New Year Greetings were also exchanged among each other. A.C.P. Roy was of the view that Safdarjung Enclave is free of crime for the last 2 months and no serious incident took place. Most of the members from various blocks were quite satisfied with the working of the Delhi Police. Both of them have advised to take care of self security by following Delhi Police guidelines and also by forming a group of neighbourhood in case of emergency and bring any mis-happening to their notice, which will be taken up on priority basis. They felicitated a few senior citizens on their birthday organised by the Council and prayed for their long life with sound health.  Although, Shri  Romil Baaniya , New D.C.P (South) consented earlier to attend the interaction session, but could not find time due to firing incident in a pub at Greater Kailash- I on that day. Mrs. Radhika Abrol Phogaat, Area Councillor also addressed the senior citizens and assured her support as and when asked for.  J.R. Gupta, President of the Council thanked the guests for their presence.





HelpAge India Releases 'Elders Abuse Report


In a special function organised by HelpAge India at India International Center on 08/01/2018 in the presence of large number of senior citizens, a Preliminary Study Report, including Elders Abuse and Effectiveness of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 was released by Dr. Archana Kaushik (Associate Professor, Dept. of Social Work, Delhi University), Ms. Sujaya Krishnan (Former Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare), Mr. Mathew Cherian (CEO, HelpAge), J.R.Gupta (Chairperson, Confederation of Senior Citizens Associations of Delhi) and Dr. Jyoti Dogra (Associate Professor, Indian Law Institute). The survey was conducted in 4 states, namely Punjab, Haryana, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. As per survey, 28% of the petitioners were found suffering from physical abuse (beating and hitting) at the hands of their children, 28% suffered mental torture, 7% neglect, and 7% verbal abuse.

While releasing the report, J.R. Gupta, Chairperson, Confederation pointed out that although Delhi was not included in the survey, but Delhi Govt. has constituted 11 Tribunal Courts across Delhi and even amended Delhi Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2016 and a notification in the Delhi Gazette was issued on 30/12/2016. Now, a senior citizen may make an application before the Deputy Commissioner / District Magistrate of his district for eviction of his son and daughter-in-law from his self-acquired property on account of their non-maintenance and ill-treatment. The SDM shall submit his report to the DC/DM for final orders within 21 days. After passing an order by DC/DM the property would get vacated with the help of concerned DCP.
