RWA SPOTLIGHT - VOG

Voice of Gajuwaka: A Brief Profile
Visakhapatnam, called the City of Destiny, is the biggest city in the State of Andhra Pradesh, a port city, often called as "The Jewel of the East Coast", with a population of about 20 lakhs. The Voice of Gajuwaka (A Federation of the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) of Gajuwaka (GVMC – Zone V), is a part of our APFERWAS (AP Federation of RWAs).

Having stood as a municipality and later as Special Grade Municipality and by virtue of being amidst several leading & important industries all around, it was strongly felt by the people that there is a dire necessity to establish a non-governmental civil society agency to pursue with the concerned authorities in order to take up developmental works in the area. In view of the above, a Joint Forum consisting of the available Resident Welfare Associations, under the name of Voice of Gajuwaka, was formed as the Federation of Gajuwaka RWAs (GVMC-Zone V).  As of now, the Federation is having about 40 RWAs with it, hailing from various corners of the fast growing industrial area. There is every enthusiasm in the RWAs on the programmes & activities being undertaken by VoG.   Every effort is being made by the Team to target for 50 RWAs in the year 2020-21, provided the present conditions permit.

With the understanding reached between the Zonal level RWA Federation, VoG and the state level RWA forum (APFERWAS), the Voice of Gajuwaka has been functioning as the Representative of APFERWAS for GVMC-Zone V.  Accordingly, the membership being collected by VoG from each individual RWA and it is being shared on the ratio of 60: 40 (APFERWAS: VoG)

Since its formation, the Voice of Gajuwaka was duly coordinating with all the concerned civic authorities and Govt Agencies, beside the People’s representatives. VoG conducted several meetings & programmes with the concerned authorities, during the past four years, wherein several RWA leaders and the general public have participated, towards finding solutions to various multifaceted public issues viz: Pollution, Traffic issues, Roads, etc., etc.  Beside, VoG has also been conducting several activities towards promotion of various Govt. programmes viz: Swach Bharat, Sanitation, Segregation, Beat the Plastic Pollution, World Earth Day, World Environment Day, International Women’s day, Promotion of Cloth / Jute Bags in place of banned plastic carry bags, etc. The representatives of VoG have also actively participated in the programmes designed and organized by APFERWAS and CoRWA in the interests of the RWA movement.
