Appeal by the Telangana State Election Commission to RWAs

The 5th Ordinary Elections to Gram Panchayats in the State of Telangana will be held well before 01.08.2018. There are 1,54,55,451 of voters spread over 8684 GPs in 30 districts.  Enumeration of all eligible voters in the Electoral rolls and their consequent participation can lead to more accountable and more responsible village level government….

The Telangana State Election Commission appeals to the members of CII, FICCI, Federation of AP and Telangana Chambers of Industry and Commerce to contribute their might as part of their corporate social responsibility for creating awareness among citizens for enrollment of eligible voters and voter empowerment leading to higher voter turnout during elections in co-ordination with District Collectors & District Election officers by organising:

  1. Voter Enrollment Camps: The status of voter name in the electoral rolls can be verified online in the web portal of CEO, Telangana (www.ceotelangana.ni.in). In case, if the name of a person is not found in the Assembly electoral rolls of the concerned assembly constituency, then the same can be enrolled by filing the claim before the concerned Assembly Electoral Registration Officer either physically or in an online mode through the web portal the CEO, Telangana. Thus encourage the eligible un-enrolled citizens and new voters who attained the age of 18 years as on 01.01.2018 to enroll their names in the electoral rolls. Such camps may be held in select colleges / Junior Colleges/High Schools.

  2. Voter motivation campaigns: To achieve this, conduct electoral educational programmes like Essay Writing competitions involving Junior College and Degree College students within the district and select 20 to 30 students among them for elocution competitions, debates, etc. at District level on the subject “ Elections to Local bodies- Importance of Participation by the new voters” and presenting awards to them in the district level meetings and workshops conducted by inviting all stake holders and distinguished guests.

  3. Hence, you may select some districts to organise these programmes, in consultation with district Collectors and draw up a programme for conducting the campaigning as part of your Corporate Social Responsibility.
