GVMC Sets up Integrated Command and Communication Centre


State-of-the-art Centre to cater to all civic needs and grievances 


The Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) started an integrated command and communication City Operations Centre.

It offers a platform for all services and grievances, solid waste management, water supply, etc.

It emerged as 8th of 20 cities selected in the first round in January 2016. A total of 22 modules have been taken up for development of applications and six have been completed as a part of e-governance introducing Enterprise Resource Planning, and thirteen are at various stages, according to the GVMC Commissioner, Sri.  M. Hari Narayanan. With multiple cameras, it’s like watching the city with thousand eyes.

Vehicles carrying garbage and the workmen are monitored by GPS with RFID devices and bins with RFID tags. Traffic surveillance through CCTV cameras is going to be installed soon in 80 identified important junctions. 10 variable message boards will be set up to display traffic diversion, pollution levels, temperature and public awareness messages. Dr. KSR Murty, Sec.General of Confederation of RWAs ( CoRWA) says that in natural calamities, like Hudhud, the CCC will help the administration to gear up early and react better

GHMC Commissioner Urges RWAs to Ensure Success in Swachh Sarvekshan




GHMC Commissioner Dr. Janardhan Reddy conducted a meeting with the members of Resident Welfare Associations at his office on 29th January urging all members to work hard on Swachh Sarvekshan to ensure Hyderabad gets the 1st Rank nationwide.

He appealed to the memebers to motivate local people and school children in separating dry and wet waste, to honour better performing municipal workers, to improve water soak pits, to preserve water and to use cloth bags instead of plastic bags.

President of the Shanti Nagaar Welfare Association, Masab Tank, Hyderabad,  Sri. P. Ashwin Kumar organized an awareness programme in their colony on separation of dry and wet waste and its uses. On this occasion, GHMC has distributed plastic bins for collection of waste in their colony.

Devinagar & Sainiknagar RWAs on Waste Management


On 19th February, an awareness program on waste management was organised at Sri Ramalayam, Devi Nagar  for the ladies of Devinagar & Sainiknagar. Ms Aruna Sekhar explained and demonstrated how to do home composting of kitchen waste that is generated every day with simple techniques.

Members of The Pink Circle conducted many events including competitions like Dunk the junk, Best dressed lady, Lucky dip prize for early birds, General lucky dip for the participants and gave away the prizes through the Corporator, Smt. K. Sridevi, GHMC North Zone Commissioner, Sri. Shankaraiah, Dy. Commissioner,  Sri Venugopal,  AHMO Sri Manohar.

The Zonal Commissioner, while addressing the gathering, complimented the members of the Pink Circle, Devinagar RWA and Sainiknagar RWA for organising today's program in an innovative way and promised to support  Ramakrishnapuram lake make over in the  the coming days. Ms Sudha from the Pink Circle thanked the guests as well as all the participants for attending the program.

On12-02018 Ms. Anitha Chavali and others of Gautham Nagar, Malkajgiri, Hyd.  received Rashtriya Seva Puraskar Prasamsa Patram for social work by Sri Ramanujan Foundation at Potti  Sriramulu University, Nampalli, Hyd.  The trophy will be awarded in Delhi on a later date.




Know Your Neighbour Meet by Snehanagar RWA




The Snehanagar RWA organized a "Know Your Nieghbour" meeting of residents with the aim of encouraging and improving good neighbourly relations in a few lanes of the colony.

The Breakfast Program  evoked good response with interactions among families, kids and friends amid a festive environment. The event would be repeated every month to make the residents come closer to each other and for better living.

Minister asks Hyderabad Collector to take up Tarnaka Library




A five-member delegation of the of the SCOWTRA and Tarnaka Libraray Committee called on Honourable Minister of Govt. of Telangana Shri Talasani Srinivas Yadav to present a memorandum to speed up action on building the library in the colony.  The Minister immediately forward the representation to the Collector Hyderabad for necessary action.

Sri Sreevatsa Kota Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) and Smt. G. K.Sunanda, District Welfare Officer, Women & Child Welfare & Senior Citizens of Hyderabad District made a visit to Swadhar Greh, Tarnaka, Hyd. and carried out  a joint inspection. They interacted with inmates and checked the quality of food, living conditions, etc. of the home. This Home is a great help to the needy and helpless women in distress. The inmates are given shelter, food, etc. and arranged skill training to enable them to earn a living. The Home is run by Rural development Society (RDS), Tarnaka.

Free Eye Camp and Pension Distribution




A free eye camp was organized by the founder chairman of Baitul Maal Charitable Trust, Syed Ahmed Hussain in the Osmania University Campus on On 18-02-2018.

The Trust also distributed monthly pension of 5 kg rice and Rs.100 to nearly 200 senior citizens. Women and widows were screened in which 35 cataracts were detected.

The pension distribution programme was done by chief guest Sri. M. Anjan Kumar Yadav, former M P, Secunderabad, the guest of honour, Mohammed Wajid Hussain, Ex-Corporator Bholakpur Ward, Sri.T. Balaswamy, Advocate, Federation of Senior Citizens Telangana, Advisor,  Sri. Syed Khalid Shah, Gen.Secretary, GHCC Syed Zafer Hussain, Syed Meraj Hussain, etc.




Paadayaatra of Dr. NVSS Prabhakar, MLA (Uppal) in the Old Dairy Farm RWA


On 22-2-2018 evening, the honourable MLA conducted a Paadayaatra at Old Dairy Farm, Osmania University Campus. The residents and the General Secretary gave him the detailed report of problems faced by them, such as,  drinking water, sanitation, drainage system, toilets, electricity, Double bedroom houses. The MLA has promised to take this issue to  the  Governor.
