Ashtavadhanam on Bhagavadgeetha

Residents of Tarnaka enjoyed a unique Ashtavadhanam performed by nine year old Master V. Saketa Krishna studying in the 4th standard. Unlike normal Ashtavadhanams, which concentrate on Telugu poetry, this one was on Bhagavadgeetha’s first 12 cantos. The event was organized on Geetha Jayanthi day on 18th December as by Samskrutha Bharathi.

Eight girls and boys,  themselves well-versed in Bhagavadgeetha, acted as the problem posers. Saketa Krishna displayed amazing mastery over the 12 cantos by answering tricky questions such as:  recite the sloka which is the fourth one in third canto; what is the particular letter at the fifth place on 4th line of third sloka in second canto, etc.

An audience of over seventy comprising senior citizens, some of them experts in Bhagavadgeeta, housewives and children, participated enjoyed the disposition.

Dr. V. Subrahmanyam, Dy. Director Sanskrit Academy, Osmania University Campus, and the  father of the Boy, told that Saketa Krishna is being essentially groomed at home in the regular recitation of the Geetha for the last five years and he has already memorized and mastered up to sixteenth canto. The boy’s ambition is to learn the ancient texts in the original Sanskrit and imbibe the cultural values and spiritual concepts taught by them.
